Kay’s Kafe

Kay’s Kafe in Brownstown is a 😎 cool place to get your designer tea and coffee. As well, there are 🥯 bagels, 🍪 cookies, biscuits, and sweet breads depending on your breakfast preference.

Raspberry Sweet Tea and a 🫐 blueberry 🥯 bagel with strawberry 🍓 cream cheese.
Conveniently located at 214 Sugar Street in Brownstown.

Nice touch with the “All Things Brewed and Blessed” tag line. 🙏🏻

A comfortable lounge area to sit and enjoy your bagel if you are not on a hurry.

It’s Just A Saturday @ Home

Ribeye 🥩 🌽 corn 🍠 sweet potato.

Heidi and Sophie set up at the Stuckwish Farm Market today selling baby blankets etc.

So, maybe Heidi spent more than she sold, but she had a good time. Meanwhile, I was In Charge of dinner.

While I was grilling the Luke Combs song 🎵 “Long Neck Ice Cold Beer Never Broke My Heart” came on and I think it is a work of genius. After that, the Walker Hayes “AA” song came on. Did I tell you that I re-wrote part of the chorus for that one? It goes like this:

I’m trying to keep my wife, from figuring out

That I married up, and she married way, way down “In Jackson County

Where they love Busch Light, teaching Language Arts, just living for Friday night, to play, Hey!”

But, Hey! The sweet potato 🍠 with butter and brown sugar and the sweet corn from last year’s garden didn’t even need the steak to make a wonderful meal. Hey!

E 🍣 Sushi

E Sushi, located on East 25th Street in Columbus was a pleasant surprise! It was Heidi’s Friday night choice and she picked a good one. The atmosphere was great and the Shrimp 🍤 Tempura was amazing!

On another prom night, after pictures at Chateau de Pique, Heidi went to Columbus by ourselves as the kids always have something better to do.

Liam and Asa.
Gyroza appetizer. Dumplings filled with pork. Called Potstickers 🥟 at other places. Very tasty.
Shrimp Tempura

This was incredible! There long fried sticks are fried 🍤 shrimp. Like nothing I have ever had. With an 🧅 onion ring on 🔝. Also, fried zuchini, broccoli 🥦 and 🍠 potato. Heidi and I enjoyed it very much!

Shrimp, on the right waiting to br fried.
The Love Boat. Not ours, but a cool looking dish.
Volcano 🌋 🍣 sushi roll. Shrimp and 🥑 avocado, etc. 👍 👍!

🍤 Shrimp 🌮 Tacos

After getting home from the Brownstown Central Middle School golf match, (with a heavy Lutheran Central flavor) I found Sophie in the kitchen making shrimp tacos for dinner. She was so cute scrolling the recipe on her computer and rummaging through the cabinets looking for cumin.

We had soft taco shells, shredded 🥬 cabbage, perfectly sliced 🥑 avocado, cheese and some Buffalo 🦬 Ranch sauce. Great combination of fresh veggie coolness and spice from the sautéed shrimp. Kudos to our soon to be college 👩‍🎓 graduate trying new things in the kitchen.

Nailed It!!!
Jack Stuckwisch drains a tough putt on #4 for par. He finished with a 43.
Isaiah Sitterding lags a putt within a foot to bogey #7. He also had a great par on #1 and round of 45.

Red Velvet Bundt Cake

“Nothing Bundt Cake” is where Heidi got the idea for this masterpiece. A Red Velvet cake mix with some tiny chocolate chips added in there to add to the texture. Finally, topped off with strips of homemade cream cheese frosting. And a pool of frosting in the middle just in case you didn’t get enough.

This cake was firm and the frosting was exquisite. The chocolate chips were a pleasant surprise. Add a glass of cold 🥛 milk, and it is the breakfast of champions!

It’s another great day being married to Heidi!

Culver’s: Seymour Grand Opening!!!

Attention local Culver’s fans!!! On Monday, April 18, the Seymour Culver’s will be open for business.

Seymour native Alice Scott Laskowski and her husband John, a former Indiana University basketball player, along with their children Scott and Kimmie are the proprietors of Seymour’s newest business.

We were fortunate to be invited to a preview lunch at Culver’s in Seymour.

On Monday, be sure to try a delicious butter 🍔, burger, root beer and frozen custard. And maybe some fried cheese curds.

There is lots of local flavor inside as well with a picture of Alice’s father Barney Scott and a picture of the gymnasium named after him. Not to mention, there are some Indiana Hoosier basketball items like a picture of the 1975 Sports Illustrated with John on the cover and his #31 Indiana basketball jersey also on the wall.

Double bacon 🥓 cheeseburger 🍔, fries and a root beer.
Seymour basketball icon Barney Scott has a section in the dining room.
Pardon the reflection and glare; John Laskowski’s jersey. A replica, at least.
Walt and Heidi Wintin with Culver’s owners, Alice and John Laskowski. Not to brag, but, John welcomed us at the door, they cheered when we walked in, and it was officially called a VIP event. We are feeling special today.
From my personal collection: The February 3, 1975 issue of Sports Illustrated. I happen to know that John often has 5 by 7 pictures of this photo and usually has time to autograph them if he is in the store.

Zucchini and Meatballs

Turkey meatballs smothered in marinara with baked zucchini on the side.

We have stated several times after buying lots of vegetables 🥕 and then throwing them out a week later that we want to be “those people.” Finally, last week, we were. We actually ate the good stuff all week. Also, we have walked almost every day the last two weeks.

Heidi made the delicious meatballs with ground 🦃 Turkey, minced 🧄 garlic and fresh spinach and baked them. There was more spinach in the skillet (under the marinara)🍳 and baked zucchini.

This was a “Win” on both the healthy side as well as the tasty side. We have booked a trip to Zion and Grand Canyon National Parks 🏞 for fall break and are serious about eating clean and training so we can hike some trails and enjoy the parks. With Heidi creating meals like this, we are headed toward success!

Rainforest Cafe 🦜 🦥 🦍 🐍

Cool aquariums throughout the restaurant.

What do you do on a 🌧 rainy day in Florida? You head to Disney Springs and follow the girls around the shops for a while before dining at The Rainforest Cafe.

Creole Mac and Cheese. People, people, people!!! 🍤 Shrimp, andouille sausage, chili butter bread crumbs.

Some combination of the andouille sausage and the chili butter bread crumbs knocks this dish out of the park! I am a fan!!!

While escaping the outdoor weather conditions, you are entertained every few moments when the Rainforest comes to life during a thunderstorm. Lightning flashed and the animals make noise. The good news is that you don’t get wet.

🔥 Fire shoots out the 🌋 volcano every 30 minutes.
Nice double waterfall with a 🐊 crocodile stationed in the lagoon.

Sickies Garage

💋 Kissimmee, Florida: Spring Break: we are driving down Highway 192 when Heidi spies out of the corner of her 👁 eye; “That place 👀 looks cool.”

Several miles and a turn around later, turns out that Sickies Garage is a 😎 cool place with some great food.

Heidi and Sophie shared a jalapeño and peanut butter burger 🍔 that Sophie was still talking about this morning.

The Sickies Garage back story.
Chandler had the 😵 Hangover which is a 🥓 bacon wrapped burger topped with grilled ham, 2 🍳 fried eggs, American 🧀 cheese and served on two glazed doughnuts 🍩.
I had the Wild Hog 🐽 🍔 burger which was a 🥓 bacon cheeseburger on a 🥨 pretzel bun. Delicious!!! And with sweet potato 🍠 fries.

Lesson learned: Listen when Heidi says something is 😎 cool.

Rush: Chicago Style Eats

Rush: Off Main is in downtown Brownsburg, Indiana. My golfing partner and fellow Cubs fan, Christopher Schuck recommended this Chicago themed restaurant and as soon as we walked in, I knew I would appreciate the experience. If I am in Wrigleyville, I will eat at Al’s Italian Beef. However, if I am in Brownsburg or Rush’s Zionsville location, where you can get Old Style on tap, that will be fine with me. I could only imagine this place when the Cubs were in the World Series.

Looking for the opportunity to watch the Cubs on a Sunday in Brownsburg.
Heidi had the 🐠 fish 🌮 tacos.
I had the Italian 🇮🇹 Beef dipped in au jus. Top notch! Messy, yet delicious.
Great combo!

Chris. If we could play golf ⛳️ and dine here after the round, do you think Jon Tilmon would notice that is just Cubs and no White Sox?
