Zucchini and Meatballs

Turkey meatballs smothered in marinara with baked zucchini on the side.

We have stated several times after buying lots of vegetables 🥕 and then throwing them out a week later that we want to be “those people.” Finally, last week, we were. We actually ate the good stuff all week. Also, we have walked almost every day the last two weeks.

Heidi made the delicious meatballs with ground 🦃 Turkey, minced 🧄 garlic and fresh spinach and baked them. There was more spinach in the skillet (under the marinara)🍳 and baked zucchini.

This was a “Win” on both the healthy side as well as the tasty side. We have booked a trip to Zion and Grand Canyon National Parks 🏞 for fall break and are serious about eating clean and training so we can hike some trails and enjoy the parks. With Heidi creating meals like this, we are headed toward success!

Rainforest Cafe 🦜 🦥 🦍 🐍

Cool aquariums throughout the restaurant.

What do you do on a 🌧 rainy day in Florida? You head to Disney Springs and follow the girls around the shops for a while before dining at The Rainforest Cafe.

Creole Mac and Cheese. People, people, people!!! 🍤 Shrimp, andouille sausage, chili butter bread crumbs.

Some combination of the andouille sausage and the chili butter bread crumbs knocks this dish out of the park! I am a fan!!!

While escaping the outdoor weather conditions, you are entertained every few moments when the Rainforest comes to life during a thunderstorm. Lightning flashed and the animals make noise. The good news is that you don’t get wet.

🔥 Fire shoots out the 🌋 volcano every 30 minutes.
Nice double waterfall with a 🐊 crocodile stationed in the lagoon.

Sickies Garage

💋 Kissimmee, Florida: Spring Break: we are driving down Highway 192 when Heidi spies out of the corner of her 👁 eye; “That place 👀 looks cool.”

Several miles and a turn around later, turns out that Sickies Garage is a 😎 cool place with some great food.

Heidi and Sophie shared a jalapeño and peanut butter burger 🍔 that Sophie was still talking about this morning.

The Sickies Garage back story.
Chandler had the 😵 Hangover which is a 🥓 bacon wrapped burger topped with grilled ham, 2 🍳 fried eggs, American 🧀 cheese and served on two glazed doughnuts 🍩.
I had the Wild Hog 🐽 🍔 burger which was a 🥓 bacon cheeseburger on a 🥨 pretzel bun. Delicious!!! And with sweet potato 🍠 fries.

Lesson learned: Listen when Heidi says something is 😎 cool.

Rush: Chicago Style Eats

Rush: Off Main is in downtown Brownsburg, Indiana. My golfing partner and fellow Cubs fan, Christopher Schuck recommended this Chicago themed restaurant and as soon as we walked in, I knew I would appreciate the experience. If I am in Wrigleyville, I will eat at Al’s Italian Beef. However, if I am in Brownsburg or Rush’s Zionsville location, where you can get Old Style on tap, that will be fine with me. I could only imagine this place when the Cubs were in the World Series.

Looking for the opportunity to watch the Cubs on a Sunday in Brownsburg.
Heidi had the 🐠 fish 🌮 tacos.
I had the Italian 🇮🇹 Beef dipped in au jus. Top notch! Messy, yet delicious.
Great combo!

Chris. If we could play golf ⛳️ and dine here after the round, do you think Jon Tilmon would notice that is just Cubs and no White Sox?

Blackened Chicken, Pasta and Roasted 🥕 Carrots

Da 💣 Bomb!!!

Have I ever mentioned how wonderful it is to be married to Heidi Wintin? I tell Alexa to play Keith Whitley while a drink a Strawberry 🍓 👱‍♀️ Blonde and she cooks me dinner. It’s a great gig, if you can get it.

Tonight’s line-up is Blackened Chicken, roasted 🥕 carrots with 🧂 salt, pepper and garlic powder, fettuccine Alfredo and Oh! At the last minute, “Do we need some 🧄 garlic bread?” Well, yes. Yes we do need some garlic 🥖 bread.

Every item was superb! While Friday is our out to eat night, it just has me wondering how we can do better than this. However, I do understand that Friday is date night and Heidi isn’t cooking.

Fat Tuesday

Since I observe Ash Wednesday, I also go ahead and observe Fat Tuesday. Also know as Mardi Gras.

Heidi fixed a fine meal of red beans and rice with some fresh baked green beans. The green beans were fantastic.

With the Lutheran Central auction coming up Saturday, her brother Doug came over to add the legs on the pub table I am donating to the Lutheran Central auction.

We are really proud of the bourbon/ cigar table.

I tried a Busch Light bottle cap top that failed miserably and fortunately I had this one in reserve. My brother David provided a bulk of the cigar rings and my friend Jon Tilmon gave me several bourbon bottles that I boiled the labels off of.

This is an early view of the bourbon/cigar table before everything was in place.
I designed and made the 🔝. Bruce Stahl and his some Skyler get a big assist with the epoxy resin pour and Doug Hackman made and attached the legs.

If the table doesn’t bring enough in the auction, I may have to buy it back and bring it home.

With the Fat Tuesday theme, Heidi also said that maybe we get King Cake for dessert tomorrow. As well as an Ash Wednesday church service.

If you are interested in the table you can add the Bid Beacon app and go to the Lutheran Central 2022 silent auction. (LC2022)

Peach 🍑 Valley Cafe

Instead of an early last round of ⛳️ golf, we decided on the Peach Valley Cafe for breakfast. Holy Cow!!! It was maybe the best ever.

The Pea h Valley Cafe is located just off Archer in Gainesville.
Their version of 🍎 apple fritters are rolled in cinnamon sugar and are dipped strawberry 🍓 yogurt.
This plate was incredible! 🥓 Bacon and American 🇺🇸 🧀 cheese omelette, fries 🥔 potatoes and a biscuit with 🍯 honey.

I knew this was going to be BIG when I saw the little honey pot for the biscuit, which was crunchy around the edges and hot in the middle.

Jon had medium 🍳 eggs, fried potatoes, a sausage links and toast. We both cleaned our plates.
We attended the Florida/Arkansas basketball 🏀 game last night. Across from the arena and in front of The Swamp is Heisman Plaza. From left to right are the Florida 🐊 Gator Heisman statues.: Tim Tebow, Steve Spurrier and Danny Wuerffel.

World 🌎 of Beer: Tioga

After a morning of golf at Turkey Creek in Gainesville, we chilled at the condo before riding bikes to Tioga for brewskies and chow.

Just a bicycle 🚴 ride away from Brevin Tilmon’s condo to Tioga.
Lemon Days: Swamp Head Brewery. Just a bit tart for my liking. But a cool picture, right?
Secret Llama 🫐 Blueberry.
From left to right: chicken, beef and shrimp tacos. Very good and a bit 🥵 spicy.
The Mount Rushmore of beer drinking. Walt Wintin, Chris Schuck, Jon Tilmon, and Brevin Tilmon.

Grub & Payne’s Prairie Nature Preserve Bike Trail

Mango Wit from Tallahassee. Chris Schuck says “It’s perfect for a hot summer day…or in February.”
The California 🐔chicken sandwich with 🥑 avocado, 🥓 bacon and sprouts. Big Time on the bun as well. The 🧇 waffle sweet potato 🍠 fries were tremendous!
Excellent 🥪 sandwich. I skipped the aioli and had Ranch to dip it in.
We stopped at the Dollar Store for some fudge covered Nutter Butters.

Payne’s Prairie is a beautiful nature preserve with bike and walking trails and is a great place to observe wildlife. We rode electric bikes and that is the only way to go!

Sweetwater Overlook
Cousins: Jon Tilmon and Chris Schuck along the trail. We liked the 🌲 tree in the background..

Alligator 🐊.
Cool bird.

Our bartender’s first and middle names were Roman Gabriel. He said his dad came from Southern California about the same time the LA Rams quarterback was Roman Gabriel.

Top Hog BBQ: Gainesville

We met some friends at Top Hog and had a great evening of food and conversation. The bread pudding was really good, the brisket was tender, but the jalapeño cheddar sausage made the meal!

The jalapeño cheddar smoked sausage was da bomb!! 💣
Orange 🍊 Blossom Pilsner and our University of Florida golf scorecard.
Gators beat #2 Auburn Sunday and we will be back to see #23 Arkansas on Tuesday.
Hole #16 at the Mark Bostick course at the University of Florida. Beautiful afternoon on the course.
